The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland’s excellent website (accessed 03 Nov 2008) provides a wonderful collection of tools for the armchair economist.

One of my favorites, of course, is their “Inflation Center” (I used information from it in my prior post), and below is a copy of a portion of the US Inflation Page.

But other Cleveland Fed Centers are a little less accessible.

Consider, for example, the pair of “Resource Centers”, captured in the image below:

As you may be able to see (and I apologize for the small size of the graphic), there are two centers, and below is the text from the Cleveland Fed’s webpage:

In this Section

Foreclosure Resource Center
This online resource will serve both as a central portal for the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland’s work on foreclosure, as well as a means of sharing tools and resources available nationally and regionally with homeowners and community development groups dealing with this issue.

Financial Stability Resource Center
It is only in the last decade or so that central banks around the world have begun to make financial stability an explicit goal or to measure the stability of their financial systems. This resource center contains an overview of the topic and provides links to the Cleveland Fed’s research on it. It also has links to the financial stability reports of all the central banks that produce them.

The second (see text and links above), is their Financial Stability Resource Center. It reviews Fed research on financial crises and is quite interesting.

The first (see text and links above) is the Foreclosure Resource Center, and I expected that it would be as useful and well-organized as either the Cleveland Fed’s Inflation or Financial Stability Centers.

Unfortunately, if you attempt to reach the Foreclosure Resource Center, using the provided link, this is what you get:

Do you want to tell them, or should I?

I used to work with numbers for a living, but now I’m trying to navigate the job market and web as I look for my next job or ‘idea’. Till next time – Ira Artman

NOTE: As of 11/14/2008, the FRB of Cleveland has fixed their web page – it is no longer broken.
