It’s a (Lipstick) Jungle out there

Retailers are having a miserable January. Sales will be significantly down for the month. After reading through a number of articles, I believe I know the reason why. Women have stopped shopping for clothes and accessories. Sales at Nordstrom, the Limited, Ann Taylor and Macy’s are dismal. On the other side of the house, sales for Wal-Mart, Costco, and Big Lots are OK. It appears the guys were stocking up on Naugahyde recliners, cheese whiz, peanuts, steaks and potato chips for the Super Bowl. Meanwhile the ladies, who are smart enough to recognize a gasping economy when they see one, have decided to wear last year’s Jimmy Choos.
Note: Naugahyde, the vinyl like material, should not be confused with the infinitely suppler Naga hide that comes from Nagas native to my home state of South Carolina. The fact that Nagas are hard to spot and even harder to kill makes real Naga hide furniture much more expensive than its pleather cousin and a valued commodity in the South.
